(ANS – Munich) – Networking, exchange, new ideas. Representatives of the European Don Bosco Publishing houses came together for their biennial meeting, this time in Munich, from May 2 to 5. “I am happy not only to get to know what everybody is up to in the respective publishing houses,” said Stefan Höchstädter, managing director from Don Bosco Verlag in Munich. “It is also a great opportunity to show them our work here in Munich with the strong connection to the young people on Campus Don Bosco – that combines different Salesian institutions next to our publishing house, like our group homes for apprentices.”
(ANS - Veržej) - The meeting of Salesian Provincials in Central and Northern Europe opens tomorrow, May 7, in Veržej, Slovenia. In addition to the participation of as many as 18 Superiors of the region, the appointment will see numerous other Salesian figures, starting with the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, and the Regional Councilor, Fr Tadeusz Rozmus.
(ANS – Cebu City) – In 23-26 April 2019, Don Bosco Retreat House, Cebu – Don Bosco Technical College in Cebu, hosted the Second Regional Conference for Salesian Institutions of Higher Education (IUS) in East-Asia Oceania (EAO). Four Salesian priests and three lay people coming from three institutions – Don Bosco Technical College Mandaluyong, Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC) Cebu and Don Bosco Technological Institute Port Moresby - attended the conference.
(ANS - Rome) - “'We are members of one another'(Eph 4:25). From social network communities to the human community.” Since the Holy Father launched the theme of the 53rd World Communications Day, the Social Communication and Formation teams of the Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB), of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA), and of Cancão Nova, with support of the Salesian Pontifical University (UPS) and the Faculty of Social Communication Sciences (FSC) began preparations for the Salesian Communication Days, an in-depth meeting with the SDB and FMA youth in the initial formation phase.
(ANS - Granada) - Fr Eusebio Muñoz, Delegate of the Rector Major for the Salesian Family (FS), recently visited Nicaragua and was with the members of the Salesian Family, in particular with the group of the Association of Mary Help of Christians ( ADMA), with whom he celebrated the 150th anniversary of the foundation of the association. The journey was an opportunity to animate and engage the members of a Salesian Family that is growing little by little.
(ANS - Brussels) - Thursday 11 April, at the headquarters of the Commission of the Bishops' Conferences of the European Union (COMECE) in Brussels, "Don Bosco International" (DBI) promoted a meeting dedicated to the reflection on the Synod of the Bishops on "Young people, faith and vocational discernment" according to a socio-political perspective. A few days after the promulgation of the "Christus vivit" of Pope Francis, the DBI has thus contributed to bringing young people and synodality to the heart of European institutions.
(ANS – Bruxelles) – The first week of April was very intense in the European Institutions, and the Don Bosco International welcomed various Salesian guests. On April 2 and 3, the European Commission hosted the 12th Edition of the Forum on the Rights of the Child. Salesians were meaningfully represented by Fr Antoine Farrugia from Maltese Vice-province, Hélène Muller from Don Bosco Action Sociale – France–Belgium South, and DBI Executive Secretary, Angel Gudiña.
(ANS -São Paulo) - With a number of events and activities, the first centenary of the "Instituto Dom Bosco" (IDB) in São Paulo, Brazil, was celebrated in the past few days, its symbol a leafy and imposing tree called "jequitibá". March 19 was an important date, as it commemorates the day of its foundation, during which it was recalled that the "giant IDB tree" is still alive and present in the lives of thousands of young people, in a "significant and very special way". But the institute celebrated the feast throughout the month of March, including performances of art, music and theater.
(ANS - Maynooth) - On the weekend from 5 to 7 April, a meeting in the "Saint Patrick" Province of Ireland (IRL) brought together the missionaries of Project Europe active in Ireland, Belgium and Hungary; with them, the spiritual Sons of Don Bosco engaged locally in sharing the Salesian charism; and Salesians currently studying English in Ireland.
(ANS - Heredia) - The place of welcome was the house "San Benito" in Heredia, Costa Rica; the days, from 29 to 31 March; the participants, about 100, belonging to: Damas Salesianas, Association of Mary Help of Christians, Volunteers of Don Bosco, Daughters of the Divine Savior, Salesian Cooperators, Past Pupils of Don Bosco, Volunteers with Don Bosco, Hogares Don Bosco, Daughters of Mary Help of Christians and Salesians. Finally, the theme of the gathering was: "the voice of the young awakens us", which served to address various topics and thus discover how to best accompany the children of the Central American region. Thus, a summary of the goings-on of the IV Central American meeting of the Salesian Family.
