The Forum focused on verifying the current state of Human Rights for Children in the European Union under the title: “Where are we and where we want to go”. The Forum focused on three particular issues: children in migration, the digital sphere and child participation in democratic processes.
Also, Fr Daniel García, World Coordinator of Salesian Social Services, came to Brussels to participate in the 5th Migration Forum right after the Consultation. This event is organized by the European Economic and Social Committee, and involves many migrant-led organizations. This year's Forum topic was the involvement of local and regional authorities under the title “From global to local governance of migration: The role of local authorities and civil society in managing migration and ensuring safe and regular pathways to the EU”.
In addition, Fr García could take part in other events organized by European Parliament on the reconstruction of Syria and visit COMECE (Commission of EU Bishops’ Conferences). A good learning experience to bridge advocacy and social intervention with the most excluded youth.
Last but not least, Don Bosco Network director, Mr. Wojciech Mrozek, came to Brussels for a one-day high level Workshop on 5th April under the title “A new look to Development Cooperation: Towards a whole of society approach for the Africa-Europe’s twin continent”.
The workshop analyzed the development cooperation from different angles: agriculture, business development, cooperatives. Salesian contribution, as expected, focused on education, especially T-VET and the development of Social Inclusion projects, for young people in vulnerable situations and social exclusion.
