Some important data of this great Salesian center will help to better understand the love for Mary Help of Christians. Salesian work in Granada began with the arrival of the first Salesians in Nicaragua, March 22, 1912, becoming the first Salesian house in Nicaragua. Once in the city, the Salesians found an environment steeped in the Salesian atmosphere. As Fr Dini wrote at the time: “The city already belonged to Mary Help of Christians. Every month there were distributed about five hundred Salesian Bulletins and all the graces they asked implored them to Mary Help of Christians.” This is the city that welcomed Fr Muñoz, a city that loves Mary Help of Christians and the Salesians, and where the Salesian Family is flourishing.
More than 50 members took part in the National Meeting of the Salesian Family with the mission of sharing Don Bosco's charism in joy. The gathering took place at the Educational Center "Sor María Romero" (CESMAR), with the presence, in addition to Fr Muñoz, of Fr Javier Rivas, Vicar of the Central American Province and Provincial Delegate for the Salesian Family.
The meeting was defined as "historic" because it highlighted the fundamental role that the Salesian Family must have in the country. The participants shared the testimonies of the pastoral work that each one carries out in their place, making it a moment of experiential enrichment.
Fr Muñoz, for his part, encouraged those present to commit themselves more to living the charism of Don Bosco, and to share it with the local population, so that it may grow continuously like a big tree.
Another noteworthy activity was the Eucharist presided over by Fr. Muñoz, and concelebrated by the Salesians present in the country, in the iconic chapel of Mary Help of Christians in Granada, where the 150th anniversary of the foundation of ADMA was commemorated.
In the homily, the Delegate of the Rector Major for the Salesian Family encouraged those present to witness to the greatness of God through the intercession of Mary Help of Christians, to whom Don Bosco entrusted his work on behalf of the young. He therefore invited families to join this great ecclesial movement, because the values of the Gospel are transmitted primarily by families.
