Guwahati, India – 23 March 2016 - As part of the Extraordinary Visitation to the Province of Guwahati (ING), Fr Guillermo Basañes, Councillor General for the Missions, visited Don Bosco Maligaon accompanied by Provincial, Fr Thomas Vattathara, and participated in the traditional "Festival of Colours."
Rome, Italy - March 2016 - The Ordinary General Meeting of Shareholders of Salesians engaged in Social (SCS) was held on 16 March. The purpose was to review the activities carried out in 2015 and to plan future projects. Thanks to the intervention of government officials, information was presented on the Third Sector Reform and the National Foreign and Civil Service. The annual report of the President of SCS, Fr Giovanni D'Andrea, completed the agenda. "In 2015 we intensified our support for poor and marginalized young people in the country. Several projects were launched in conjunction with other Salesian works with which we have formed a network. Collaboration with partners and our presence throughout the country continue with one of our key projects, the SIV (Sostengo In Vicinanza) which will also continue in 2016. (...) There are also excellent prospects for the Civil Service, which this year saw the participation of about 1,200 young volunteers in Italy and abroad."
Yaounde, Cameroon - February 2016 - On 27 and 28 February a weekend of Divine Mercy was held at St Augustine’s Salesian Centre of Theology. The aim was to help young people to meet the Lord, to deepen their experience of mercy and to participate in the penitential celebration, adoration and Mass. The event was presided over by Fr Alphonse Owoudou, Vicar of the Vice-Province of Tropical Equatorial Africa. It was attended also by Fr André Ela Enam, Director of the Centre of Theology, assisted by many Salesians and priests.

Berlin, Germany – 22 March 2016 - German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited the "Don-Bosco-Zentrum" in Berlin-Marzahn. This is a work run jointly by the Salesians of Don Bosco and by the Sisters of St Mary Magdalen Postel. Angela Merkel was informed of the projects in the field of vocational training and visited the work, spending time with the young people in the various sectors. The project supports approximately 300 young adults who are helped to find their way in the world of work.
Torre Annunziata, Italy - March 21, 2016 – The Salesian Social Promotion Association, "Small Steps Big Dreams Onlus", on the occasion of the national day of awareness and promotion of legality, organized an afternoon of sports, sharing, fun and legality. The young people from the Mamma Matilde community of Torre Annunziata and "Pinardi House" in Caserta, met Lieutenant Colonel Petti of the Carabinieri and various local civil authorities, for a constructive debate and an important opportunity for sharing on the theme of Legality. A football match took place between the young people and the police in an initiative called Football against Lawlessness. At the end of the match the children from the Salesian oratory took part in another initiative called "Disarm the City." The children threw their toy guns in a “Legality Bin” and received a chocolate egg in return.
