Sampran, Thailand - October 2017 - The Provincial Congress of the Salesian Cooperators Association (ASC) was held on 21 and 22 October. Attended by over 30 provincial and local ASC counselors, they met to deepen their knowledge of "Guidelines and Indications for the Formation of the Salesian Cooperators", and to evaluate the three-year plan comprising 2014-2017.
Lawaan, Philippines - October 2017 - From 18 to 20 October, the 9th edition of the John Paul II Communication Conference, organized by the Social Communication Office of the Salesian Province of the Philippines (FIS), took place at the Don Bosco Formation Center of Lawaan. At the event – its theme: "The Family: Communicating Hope and Trust in our Time" – were 307 participants, including Salesians, members of the Salesian Family, aspirants, novices and students of the Don Bosco Formation Center who participated as animators and volunteers.
Vitória, Brazil - November 2017 - Helping others, practicing solidarity, and creating new bonds of friendship are part of the educative-pastoral project of the Salesian College “Jardim Camburi” of Vitória, Belo Horizonte Province, which for over five years has been promoting activities in the home for children and adolescents. During the Salesian students' weekly visits to the home, about 200 socially vulnerable children and teenagers receive assistance from the project through donations of clothing, food and school supplies. The Salesian students also organize recreational activities such as games, arts and crafts workshops and sports.. Families are also involved to create a bond of friendship and best support these children and teens.
Tijuana, Mexico - October 2017 - On October 24, at the community of the Tijuana Salesian Project, the Eucharist was celebrated in the presence of the three Salesian Provincials of Bolivia, Venezuela and United States East and Canada, respectively Fr Javier Ortiz, Fr Francisco Méndez and Fr Timothy Zak. At the end of Mass, the three provincials took part in distributing meals to the house's beneficiaries, vulnerable people, including many migrants.
Tete, Mozambique - October 2017 - On October 29, in the cathedral of "São Tiago Maior" in the diocese of Tete, Mgr. Edgar Peña Parra, Apostolic Nuncio in Mozambique, ordained the Salesian Sérgio Daniel Saíde priest in the presence of ecclesiastical figures, the Superior of Mozambique's Vice Province, Fr Marco Biaggi, local Salesians, and many faithful.
Seoul, South Korea - October 2017 - On October 22, Seoul's five Salesian communities gathered at the Provincial House to celebrate the Day of the Salesian Missionary, attended by 40 Salesians and Fr Václav Klement, Councilor for East Asia – Oceania Region.
