Dili, East Timor - October 6, 2016 - The Eleventh Congress of the Salesian Family of East Asia-Oceania took place in Dili. It was organized by the Past Pupils of Don Bosco on the theme "Serving God in our neighbour, promoting good education, economic solidarity and social justice". The meeting was attended by 380 people representing the various groups of the Salesian Family from 11 countries in the region. Michal Hort, World President of the Past Pupils was present.
New Delhi, India - September 30, 2016 – Fr Mani Manuel, Dean of the Don Bosco High School and Technical Pvt, ITI Krishnagar (West Bengal), received the Best Educationist award from the International Institute for Training and Management in New Delhi. The award recognizes the efforts made by Fr Mani Manuel in the last 11 years in the field of education.
Tlazala, Mexico - September 2016 - From 23 to 25 September two retreats took place: the first level Evangelization Retreat of the Salesian Youth Movement, and the second level Retreat for young members of the Salesian Leaders Project. The event was attended by 213 young people and pastoral workers, and was led by the Salesians and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians.
Vatican City, Vatican - 9 October 2016 - On the occasion of the Marian Jubilee in the Holy Year of Mercy, about 150 members of ADMA Families in Turin came to Rome to attend the event. Among them were several young people who accepted the invitation of Pope Francis: "Let us ask Our Lady to help us understand that everything is a gift of God, and to know how to be thankful: then, I assure you, our joy will be full. Only the one who knows how to be thankful knows the fullness of joy."
Warsaw, Poland - October 2016 - The Salesian Mission Office in Warsaw has recently renewed its image with a new logo, a new website and new profiles on social networks. The new web page www.misjesalezjanie.pl is designed in such a way that it makes it easy for supporters of the mission to follow the missionary work around the world. The activities of the Salesian Mission Office can also be followed on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Snapchat, by writing '@misjesalezjanie'. A "crowdfunding" platform has also been launched and a new mobile application - misje salezjanie – which will be the answer to the needs of today's world and a new means of daily communication.
Buenos Aires, Argentina - 30 September 2016 - Three Salesians - Fr Juan Picca, Fr Carlos Salvador Moreno and Fr Eduardo Giorda -received the "Divine Master" award. The award, now in its fortieth year, was set up by the Superior Council of Catholic Education (CONSUDEC) and is awarded to people who have dedicated their lives to teaching and are recognized by generations of students as authentic teachers. Other winners include three Daughters of Mary Help of Christians - Sr Ángela Maria Agostini, Sr Elba Guerrero Díaz, and Sr Julia Gómez – and Professor Mercedes Arteche, teacher at the Salesian School of Juan XXIII.
