Guayaquil, Ecuador – January 2017 – On January 14th and 15th, at the “Patio Mi Pana” there was the first Council of children and adolescents of 7 cities that form the “Ecuador Salesian Project”. Fr. Francisco Sánchez SDB, who is in charge of the Council, highlighted the significance of this first encounter of 2017 for the formation and strengthening of animators in their own centres and cities of origin, where, together with their educators, they have the task to animate their fellow-students to grow as Don Bosco wanted: as good Christians and honest citizens.

Sherbrooke, Canada – January 2017 – In view of the Feast of Don Bosco, the Salesian Secondary School of Sherbrooke organised a “talent show” for the students, called “Bosco Show 2017”, with songs, dances, concerts and activities of Salesian Youth Ministry.

Nairobi, Kenya – January 2017 – On January 21st, at the “Don Bosco Upper Hill” house, in Nairobi, there was the celebration of the Day of the Salesian Family 2017, in which various representatives of the Salesian Family in Kenya took part. During the day, SDBs, FMAs, SMIs, VIDES, Past-Pupils, Salesian Cooperators and representatives of the students and the youth of the various institutes followed the presentation of the Strenna 2017 of the Rector Major and lived moments of sharing and fraternity.

Canhoca, Angola – January 2017 – From January 14th to 18th, over 100 young people of the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) gathered to celebrate and deepen the study of the Strenna 2017 of the Rector Major. During these days, the youth prayed for the release of abducted Salesian, Fr. Tom Uzhunnalil.

Cebu, Philippines - January 14th – Numerous celebrations are held on the occasion of the national feast of “Santo Niño” all over the Philippines, and people participate with devotion and in large numbers in this event. in Cebu the little statue of the “Santo Niño”, one of the most ancient Christian relics of the country - which according to tradition was donated in 1521 by the first European explorers to Raja Humabon, King of the island of Cebu, on the occasion of his conversion to Catholicism – is taken in procession from the Basilica Minor where it is normally kept to the National Sanctuaries of St. Joseph and of Our Lady of the Rule, before returning to its place on the morning of the Sunday festivity, through a great fluvial procession.

Ensenada, Argentina – January 2017 – From January 9th to 14th, at the Salesian house of Ensenada there was the celebration of Campobosco 2017, on the theme “A Family is formed in the Encounter with the Others”. About one hundred people took part in this event. The youth, guided by animators, adults and priests, did several activities such as sports, games, cultural groups of study and reflection of the theme of the Family, in tune with the Strenna 2017 of the Rector Major “We are Family! Every home, a school of Life and Love”.
