Arequipa, Peru - February 2018 - From 5 to 13 February, there was the 11th Meeting of young people and supervisory teams for children and adolescents at risk. 110 people attended the event: 36 educators, both religious and lay people, and 74 adolescents, from Salesian works in various parts of the country. These annual meetings are a space for formation and the exchange of experiences with educators and adolescents of the Salesian centers that assist children and adolescents at high social risk; their aim: to strengthen and unify the criteria for intervention.
Matola, Mozambique - February 2018 - Fr Filiberto González, General Councilor for Social Communication, visited the Salesian aspirantate of Matola as part of the Extraordinary Visitation of the Vice Province of Mozambique (MOZ).
Santa Cruz, Bolivia - 31 January 2018 - On 31 January, at the "Don Bosco Central" in Santa Cruz, the feast of Don Bosco was celebrated. Attended by members of the Salesian Family, they convened for the quarterly retreat following Cochabamba. Both events were inspired by the theme of the Rector Major's Strenna 2018.
Canlubang, Philippines - February 2018 - In a festive atmosphere, the Salesian Family (SF) was celebrated on 10 February, hosted this year by the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians in Canlubang. At the event, presided over by the Provincial of the Salesian Province of the North Philippines (FIN), Fr Anthony Paul Bicomong, participants included SF members from various areas of Luzon and North of Tarlac.
Krakow, Poland - February 2018 - On 17 February, at the Theater of the Salesian Theologate in Krakow, the 86th edition of the sacred representation of the Passion of Christ entitled "Misterium" was staged, with repeat performances every Saturday and Sunday of Lent until 18 March. The actors are the Salesian clerics of Krakow as well as several young people of the "Ziemia Boga" group. Thanks to a modern adaptation, the play has emotionally moved audiences, indeed. This year the theme of the representation deals with the vicissitudes of Saul of Tarsus, together with the reality of Christian martyrs in different cultures and times, starting from St. Stephen to the martyr's of today. The whole plot is framed in the mystery of the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Christ. The director and author of the screenplay is Marcin Kobierski.
Guwahati, India - February 2018 - On February 15, the former Prime Minister of the State of Kerala, Mr. Oomen Chandy, visited the "Don Bosco Institute" (DBI) of Guwahati, where he was welcomed by Fr VM Thomas, Provincial of the Guwahati Province. After listening to the presentation of all the DBI programs and activities, Mr. Oomen Chandy, renowned statesman and politician, spoke to students. He urged them to be honest, upstanding and socially responsible, emphasizing that there could be no better ideal for them to follow than that of St. John Bosco, whose contribution has flourished into a splendid Congregation that brings education to millions of young people all over the world.
