Aleppo, Syria - March 2018 - From 21 to 23 March, the young people of the Salesian oratory in Aleppo staged a musical entitled, "His Love transformed me", a story based on Don Bosco's dream of 1844, in which lambs become shepherds. The musical was produced with over 100 young university and high school students and was the fruit of a formative journey that took place during the first pastoral semester, led by Fr Pier Jabloyan, director of the Salesian community in Aleppo. The show was attended by families and young people from Aleppo, the young of the Salesian oratory in Damascus and Kafroun and a group of young people from the Al Fidar school in Lebanon. Various priests, nuns and bishops were present at the performance, including Greek Melkite bishop Jean-Clément Jeanbart, Latin bishop George Abi Khazen and Maronite bishop Joseph Tpbji.
Mumbai, India - March 29, 2018 - The students of the "Don Bosco Institute of Technology", of Kurla, Mumbai, have organized the Colosseum 2018, designed for the realization of innovative products, improvement of technological processes and games. During the event, students' work on "HyperLoop" was presented, a hypothesis of futuristic technology for the high-speed transport of goods and passengers, the "blockchain", a list of interconnected and encrypted records, and automations for finance and manufacturing 4.0.
Chaco, Argentina - March 2018 - On 1 March the official opening of the Salesian aspirantate and prenovitiate in the community of Fontana took place, with about 20 young prenovices and aspirants who will carry out, among other things, apostolate activities in various oratories of the area.
Krakow, Poland - March 2018 - The Association of Polish Journalists awarded the First Prize "Freedom of Speech" to the authors of two films made by the Salesian Voluntary Service "Młodzi Światu" in Krakow. The two films support the defense of democracy and justice, denouncing the abuse of power, corruption, the violation of civil and human rights. Michał Król and Maciej Grabysa made the film "The Persecuted Forgotten - Free Asia Bibi", while Fr Roman Sikoń, SDB, and Michal Król produced the film "Prayer for Peace", both films broadcast on TV. "Our purpose is a simple invitation to prayer, and also to show the Christians, our brothers and sisters, who are suffering in Syria, and all over the world. They suffer because of a 'business deal' that is called war," emphasized Fr Sikoń.
Watsonville, United States - March 2018 – On March 15th the students of the Salesian school "St.Francis High School Salesian College Preparatory" of Watsonville gave life to a day of prayer and solidarity with the community of the "Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School" of Parkland, Florida, where a massacre took place on February 14th, with 17 victims and 17 wounded.
Cebu, Philippines - March 2018 - Last March 19, with the theme "Remembering, renewing and re-lighting", the meeting of the Salesian Brothers of the South Philippines Province (FIS) took place. The event was attended by 9 of the 12 Salesian Brothers of the FIS Province, accompanied by the Provincial, Fr Godofredo Atienza, and other Salesians.
