Before the celebration, Fr Marcelo Farfán, ECU Provincial, offered a fraternal welcome to the Nuncio and thanked him for being among the Chapter members and underlining the closeness of the Church. In his homily Archbishop Carrascosa said that the Chapter, by definition, is a time of discernment that is characterised by being contrary to human logic of the kind that wants everything to be defined by a desk or an office. Evoking the words of Pope Francis, he also indicated that a Chapter is not a survey of opinions, but rather an ecclesial moment where the main protagonist must be the Holy Spirit. What the Lord asks you today is not to imitate the style of St John Bosco in the literal sense, but rather "to take on the method, the spiritual energy with which he lived the Gospel to try to translate it in the current context", was the invitation addressed to the participants.
