(ANS - Hyderabad) - The members of the South Asia Formation Commission assembled on 16 August for their annual meeting at the Don Bosco Provincial House, Hyderabad. This was the fifth of a cycle of meetings. It focused mainly on the role of the Salesian Rector, on the two forms of the Salesian vocation, on the formation plan for the region for the next three years and on the dynamics of the process of accompaniment. Those present were Fr Ivo Coelho, Councillor General for Formation, Fr Joyce Thonikuzhiyl, Provincial Delegate SPCSA and twelve delegates from the provinces of the region. The meeting was co-ordinated by Fr Jose Kuttianimattathil, Delegate for the South Asia Formation Commission and Fr Silvio Roggia from the Formation Department in Rome. The meeting ended on Saturday 20 August.
(ANS - Jasna Góra) - "Thank the Lord for His mercy." This was the name given to the 25th Salesian Pilgrimage of Evangelisation. For 15 days, from 31 July to 14 August, a group of about 200 young people led by Salesians Fr Michał Mejer and Fr Michał Sabada, along with 12 other priests, 5 clerics and 5 sisters, walked about 360 km. For 25 years young people have been walking this same road, starting from the Salesian parish in Szczaniec (near Świebodzin) and arriving at the Shrine of the Black Madonna of Jasna Góra.
(ANS - Taranto) - Cutting-edge technology is not only a requirement of the most developed companies, but also of those who aspire to give worthwhile training and job opportunities to people in socially disadvantaged situations. This is the aim of a new initiative to be started in a few days’ time at Don Bosco House in Taranto. It is called the "FabLab" project (fabrication laboratory) and will enable young people out of school to avail of the most modern technological resources to develop their creativity and achieve concrete products.

RMG – Don Bosco: “The Fascinating Saint”
(ANS - Rome) - Don Bosco is perhaps the most amazing and fascinating saint, history has ever produced. The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

Argentina – UNISAL Participates in the International Forum “Territories of the Future: South Atlantic and Antarctica”
(ANS – Río Grande) – From February 19 to 21, the cities of Río Grande, Tolhuin, and Ushuaia hosted the International Forum “Territories of the Future: South Atlantic and Antarctica”, organized by the University Network for the Care of the Common Home (RUC) and the Municipality of Río Grande, with support from the National University of Tierra del Fuego (UNTDF). The event brought together universities from Argentina, Latin America, and the Caribbean to discuss sustainability and conservation in these regions, with the Salesian University of Argentina (UNISAL) playing an important role.

United States – CATHOLIC WORLD DAY OF THE SICK: Salesian Missions highlights medical programs for people in need around the globe
(ANS – New Rochelle) – Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins Catholic organizations around the globe in honoring the Catholic World Day of the Sick. Every year on Feb. 11, the Pope marks the day with a special message calling for spiritual and physical closeness to all those who are ill. Saint John Paul II instituted the day “to encourage the people of God, Catholic health institutions and civil society to be increasingly attentive to the sick and to those who care for them.”
