(ANS – Verona) - "Don Bosco went in search of souls; I go in search of ... e-mail to reach many people through the newsletter to help them to open their soul to salvation." So says Angelo Santi, half joking, half serious. He was a pupil of the Don Bosco Institute in Verona in the '60s. Angelo is an experienced and skilled graphic artist with the local newspaper "The Arena", with twenty years of professional experience in contact with journalists. When he retired he opened a Salesian pedagogy site. And in honour of Don Bosco could not call it anything other than... www.ilgrandeducatore.com

(ANS – Cologne) – On the 10th of April, Ernest Roig Campi and Jakob Steinkuhl will head towards what might just be the biggest adventures of their lives – a 15 month biking trip from Germany all the way to Vietnam. The starting point of their 15.000 km journey will be the monumental Cologne Cathedral. On their way to the other end of the world, the two qualified nurses aim to raise money for Don Bosco Straßenkinder and will visit several Don Bosco houses.

(ANS - Bogotá) - In many parts of the world technical professions see a decrease in the intake of students. The "skilled trades", such as electricians, locksmiths, plumbers, painters, seem to have lost appeal among young people. Yet these skilled trades are in demand all over the world. Don Bosco understood that to work with the poor and needy young people it was necessary to offer short courses in what today are called "skilled trades." And the Salesians in Colombia continue to provide a learning space for young people who have no other option.

  • Ukraine – Youth Ministry in time of war: the gift of the "little things"

(ANS – Donetsk) – A situation like a country invaded and at war necessarily leads to "reductions": in security, goods, possibilities, and sometimes it seems necessary that even dreams and expectations must necessarily be less... But not every lessening means impoverishment. Sometimes it is just a return to the simplicity of our origins, our roots. This is what Salesian Bishop Maksym Ryabukha, Auxiliary Bishop of the Greek-Catholic Exarchate of Donetsk, Ukraine, tells us today in the continuation of his reflection on what he can teach the universal Church, and in particular the Salesians scattered around the world, about the experience of Youth Ministry carried out in a time of war.

MESSAGES OF THE RECTOR MAJOR

  • OUR ANNUAL GIFT

THE MESSAGE OF THE VICAR OF THE RECTOR MAJOR,
    Fr Stefano Martoglio, SDB

Traditionally as a Salesian Family, we receive the Strenna every year - a gift at the beginning of the year. I hold it dear to look inside this gift with these few lines so as to welcome it as it deserves, without losing anything of the freshness of the gift.
