(ANS - Rome) - Faced with the delicate situation in Venezuela, the Rector Major of the Salesians, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, in a statement sent from Kenya, expresses his support for the Salesians in Venezuela and the Venezuelan people. In a fraternal message he says, "You are not alone. We, in the different parts of the Salesian world, are worried about you. We are attentive to what you are experiencing and well aware of everything that happens to you.
"Below is the text of the message:
(ANS - Caracas) - A video has gone around the world showing an elderly religious sister trying to talk to a soldier. She is a Daughter of Mary Help of Christians who has become the icon of the huge peaceful demonstrations marches that are taking place in Venezuela to protest against President Nicolás Maduro.
(ANS – Kakuma) – Kakuma refugee camp, situated in the northern part of Kenya, is home to over 200,000 people from about twenty countries which have had and are having conflicts. The Salesians have a community inside the camp where they have a parish with several out-stations, taking care of the spiritual needs of the inmates who are Catholics. They also have a technical school that teaches various technical skills and English to the refugees. There are also three satellite technical schools that are run by the Salesian community. The Salesians are the only people, apart from the refugees, who reside inside the camp. All the others, religious, NGOs and the staff of other UN agencies reside outside the camp. This is where the Rector Major paid a visit on Monday 24 April.

RMG – Don Bosco: “The Fascinating Saint”(ANS - Rome) - Don Bosco is perhaps the most amazing and fascinating saint, history has ever produced. The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

Argentina – UNISAL Participates in the International Forum “Territories of the Future: South Atlantic and Antarctica”(ANS – Río Grande) – From February 19 to 21, the cities of Río Grande, Tolhuin, and Ushuaia hosted the International Forum “Territories of the Future: South Atlantic and Antarctica”, organized by the University Network for the Care of the Common Home (RUC) and the Municipality of Río Grande, with support from the National University of Tierra del Fuego (UNTDF). Dear friends and readers, members of the Salesian Family, for this month's greeting in the Salesian Bulletin I will focus on a very important event that the Salesian Congregation is holding presently: General Chapter XXIX. This assembly, the most important one that the Congregation can experience, occurs every six years along the Salesian Congregation’s journey.
