Malta – Salesian Lenten Campaign in Support of Street Children in Africa

07 March 2025

Sliema, Malta – March 2025 – This year, the Salesians celebrate the 150th anniversary of Don Bosco’s first missionary expedition to Patagonia, Argentina. Today, the Salesians are present in 136 countries and form one of the world's largest networks working for underprivileged youth. To mark this historic occasion, the Salesians of the Malta Vice-Province (MLT) have launched a Lenten campaign to support the plight of street children in Africa. During the Ash Wednesday liturgy at “Savio College,” Fr. Robert Falzon, Delegate for Missionary Animation in Malta, officially launched the campaign. Addressing students and staff, Fr. Falzon emphasized the values of charity and generosity, encouraging them to make small sacrifices during Lent, considering the impact their contributions could have on children in Africa.

The Salesians of Don Bosco have a strong presence in Malta and are well known for their work with young people in education, recreation, and social outreach. For more information about the campaign and donations, contact: missions@sdb.org.mt
