Makati, Philippines – March 2024 - The Zepherin Camp vocational experience organised by the Salesian Province of the Northern Philippines (FIN) ended on 2 March 2024, bringing together 42 young people in vocational discernment from different Salesian houses. During the days, the young participants learned about the works and apostolate of the Salesians, explored the figure of Don Bosco and his mission, carried out social activities, lived moments of prayer and reflection. In Calatagan, the camp team, made up of Salesians Dandrew Matias, Roj Mallari, Nathan Petate, and Fr Jay David, SDB, prepared a series of activities to increase teamwork and friendship among the participants. In addition, special moments of prayer were prepared so that the participants could immerse themselves in their reflections with God appreciating the nature that surrounds them.
Hua Hin, Thailand – March 2024 – The Salesians in Thailand, Cambodia and Laos gathered for the 2024 annual retreat, divided into two groups: the first met from 24 February to 2 March, while the second from 3-9 March. The event, which took place at the HuaHin Retreat House, was led by Bishop Patrick Abella Buzon, SDB, Bishop of Bacolod. The retreat focused on the Salesian vocation, with Bishop Buzon leading those present to reflect on Consecrated Life, the Sequela Christi, Prayer, Communion, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, the Eucharist, the Meaning of the Church and Mary Help of Christians. The days of retreat were also an opportunity for the Salesians of the three different countries to meet and exchange experiences.
Bogotá, Colombia – February 2024 - With the aim of guaranteeing and strengthening the unity, work and understanding of the Missionary Process in the Salesian St Peter Claver Province of Bogotá, Colombia (COB), the first Week of Joint Formation was held at the Centre for Salesian Spirituality -CIES- from 26 to 29 February. Directors, Rectors, Pastoral and Coexistence Coordinators of the various Salesian presences participated. During the first day, Fr Rubén Darío Jaramillo, Vice-Provincial and Delegate for Formation for COB Province, led conferences around the figure and work of Don Bosco, which allowed the participants to know, understand and appropriate their Charismatic Identity even more. During the second day, the Services, Environments and Sectors of the Pastoral and Communication Delegations had the opportunity to present objectives, interventions and strategies to further promote the organic work of the Educative and Pastoral Proposal. Finally, on the last day, a multiplier effect plan was formulated based on the identification of roles and functions in order to ensure knowledge management and its implementation at the local level.
Pune, India – March 2024 – On 3 March 2024, in the parish of the Sacred Heart of Yerwada, Bishop John Rodrigues, Bishop of the Diocese of Poona, ordained four Salesian deacons: clerics Jeswin Mastan and Agnel Dias of the Salesian Province of Bombay (INB) and clerics Joswin D'Souza and Arun Mendonca of the Salesian Province of Panjim (INP). Present at the celebration were Fr Savio Silvera, INB Provincial, Fr Clive Telles, INP Provincial, and various priests.
Tiruchy, India – February 2024 – In view of the Silver Jubilee celebration of the Salesian Province of Tiruchy, India (INT), a state-level symposium was organised in Tiruchy on 23 and 24 February. The meeting follows an annual impact study on the various sectors of the Province. The results and recommendations of this study formed the basis of the symposium, to take stock of what has been done and to think about the future. The symposium was attended by about 150 people from the Salesian Province of Tiruchy and Chennai and many members of the Salesian Family. Fr Agilan Sarprasadam, Superior of INT, opened the symposium, while Fr John Dharman, SDB, was given the task of presenting the impact study reports to the participants, before leaving the floor to the numerous other speakers. In conclusion, the symposium highlighted the results and challenges of the Province and, among the many themes presented, everyone appreciated the preferential option for marginalised young people.
La Esmeralda, Venezuela – March 2024 - On Saturday, 2 March 2024, Fr Hugo Orozco, Councillor for the Interamerica Region, arrived in La Esmeralda to visit the Salesian communities operating in the Upper Orinoco, another stage of his Extraordinary Visitation to the Province of Venezuela. Fr Orozco arrived accompanied by Fr Nelson Briceño, on a small plane from Puerto Ayacucho courtesy of CAICET. Since his arrival at 8 am he was received by the students and staff working at the La Esmeralda Educational Unit and then he was welcomed into the School Theatre. The day passed between sharing with the young people who live in the two houses, since they come from very remote communities and are there to complete their secondary studies, and conversation with the four Salesians who work between Mavaca and La Esmeralda. On Sunday, the Regional Councillor presided over the Eucharist in the Parish Church of Mary Help of Christians in La Esmeralda, and then continued the conversations, including with the FMA who share the work in that Apostolic Community.

"My plans and dreams for my missionary life are to live in communion of spirit and action with my Salesian brothers in IME for the salvation of poor and abandoned young people, according to the heart of Don Bosco and to the greater glory of God".

Myanmar – Tragedy of Innocent Children in the midst of Armed Conflicts
(ANS – Naypyidaw) - Myanmar finds itself immersed in profound grief and anguish as innocent lives, particularly those of children, continue to be mercilessly lost in the enduring armed conflicts. Families are left devastated by the tragic loss of their loved ones while the relentless violence shows no signs of abating. This week, a heartfelt plea from Myanmar reached our community, shedding light on the heart-wrenching death of a young girl Juliet in a military airstrike, prompting a unified call for prayers and action.

Italy – Presentation of the volume "Giovanni Bosco, Predicazione"
(ANS – Rome) – Last Friday, 22 November 2024, at the UPS, the Salesian Historical Institute (ISS), in collaboration with the Don Bosco Study Centre (CSDB) at the Pontifical Salesian University (UPS) in Rome, presented the volume Giovanni Bosco, Predicazione. Introduzione, testi critici e note a cura di Aldo Giraudo e Massimo Schwarzel. (= ISS – Fonti, Prima Series, 18). Rome, 2024. The symposium involved numerous scholars who were able to illustrate the originality and specific value of this new text on St John Bosco.

A new time is given to us: from the Heart of God to the heart of humanity, mirrored in the great heart of Don Bosco.
Dear friends and readers, in this December issue I address you with my best wishes for a new year! We find ourselves in a new time that is given to us to live with intensity and with "newness of life," which I make my own, as a propitious and opportune wish. I am speaking of the gift that the Holy Father has given us in recent days: his Encyclical letter Dilexit Nos on the human and Divine Love of the Heart of Jesus Christ.
