(ANS– Castelnuovo Don Bosco) A very special meeting took place last Sunday, August 4, at Colle Don Bosco, where Don Bosco grew and matured: the meeting between Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, who as Rector Major is called to lead the entire Salesian Congregation, and 36 young prenovices, who are still in a phase of attentive discernment of their own vocation; the meeting, as it was, of a father with many little children in their search.
(ANS – Castelnuovo Don Bosco) – Swimming, relaxing and getting to know Don Bosco. From 14 July to 18 August around 500 young people will experience a very special summer camp, following the invitation of the German Salesian province at the Colle Don Bosco near Turin in Italy, where Don Bosco grew up. “Here we have fun, but also can learn something and we can see something from the world,” says a 27-year old participant from the “Don Bosco Haus” in Chemnitz (Saxony).
Mornese, Italy – 5 August 2019– The 147th anniversary celebrations of the foundation of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians took place at the Sanctuary of Santa Maria Domenica Mazzarello, near Mornese, and also saw the presence of Mother General, Yvonne Reungoat. In the solemn Eucharist, presided over by the Rector Major of the Salesians, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, Sister Odile Degbe Kanlé made her perpetual vows.
- Since 1930 they have been entrusted to the Salesians of Don Bosco.
- They cover about 15 hectares.
- They were used as a cemetery from the 2nd to the 5th century.
- In the 3rd century they were the official cemetery of the Church of Rome.
- Half a million Christians were buried there.
- 16 Pontiffs are buried in the catacombs.
- The care of the catacombs today is entrusted to 15 Salesians and 15 laity.
- The pilgrim guide service is offered in 5 official languages and in more than 20 unofficial languages.
(ANS - Mornese) – On 5 August 2019, from the Rooms of Mother Mazzarello in Mornese, Italy, Mother Yvonne Reungoat officially opens the Triennial of preparation for the 150th of the Foundation of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (1872-2022). A day of remembrance and of the future, of gratitude and of fidelity that projects the FMA Institute forward with hope. August 5 is an opportunity to return to the evangelical and charismatic sources, to the motivations that give meaning to Salesian life and mission. It is an event of grace that leads us profoundly into the roots of the Salesian vocation.
Rome, Italy - July 2019 - The summer activities that the "Borgo Ragazzi Don Bosco" organizes every year for children, young people and families of the territory have come to an end. Estate Ragazzi, the summer camp organized by the oratory-youth center welcomed 350 children who from June 10th to July 12th attended the courtyards, playing under the motto "Living as Children of God". Activities included: games, tournaments, swimming at Lake Bracciano and "Bosco Village", the slides of the "Miami Beach" Water Park, excursions to Monte Autore and the highlands of Altipiani d'Arcinazzo, the "Rainbow MagicLand" amusement park. In the evening the Borgo Ragazzi Don Bosco hosted the older children and families with the proposals of the "Borgoestate", a thirty-year Roman event, with more than 3,000 presences this year, with shows, gastronomy, concerts, games, sports, music, and the evening "Centocelle as we were and how we will be", an important moment of openness to the territory and sharing of stories and needs of the neighborhood.

RMG – Don Bosco: “The Fascinating Saint”
(ANS - Rome) - Don Bosco is perhaps the most amazing and fascinating saint, history has ever produced. The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

Argentina – UNISAL Participates in the International Forum “Territories of the Future: South Atlantic and Antarctica”
(ANS – Río Grande) – From February 19 to 21, the cities of Río Grande, Tolhuin, and Ushuaia hosted the International Forum “Territories of the Future: South Atlantic and Antarctica”, organized by the University Network for the Care of the Common Home (RUC) and the Municipality of Río Grande, with support from the National University of Tierra del Fuego (UNTDF). The event brought together universities from Argentina, Latin America, and the Caribbean to discuss sustainability and conservation in these regions, with the Salesian University of Argentina (UNISAL) playing an important role.

United States – CATHOLIC WORLD DAY OF THE SICK: Salesian Missions highlights medical programs for people in need around the globe
(ANS – New Rochelle) – Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins Catholic organizations around the globe in honoring the Catholic World Day of the Sick. Every year on Feb. 11, the Pope marks the day with a special message calling for spiritual and physical closeness to all those who are ill. Saint John Paul II instituted the day “to encourage the people of God, Catholic health institutions and civil society to be increasingly attentive to the sick and to those who care for them.”
