(ANS – Recife) – Since 27th June up to date, 1st July, more than 1000 students and athletes from Salesian schools in the North East Region of Brazil are participating in the 31st edition of the Salesian “Nordestão” – the most important sport event and Salesian event in the Region. The happening, which this year is taking place in Recife, promotes the integration among students, enhances sport life, favours solidarity and brings to light the great talents of many youth. The motto of this year takes inspiration from the Strenna of the Rector Major: “In life and in sport strength is born and spirit unites”.
(ANS – Muhazi) – Muhazi is a small village close to Kigali, the Capital of Rwanda. Speaking of Rwanda recalls to our mind memories of death and destruction, but together with this bloody story, a new story grows, one of hope and future. The Salesians are present in Rwanda since 1953 and through six presences they offer young people opportunities of instruction. In the capital, which is surrounded by a range of mountains and luxuriant valleys, many of the inhabitants never went to school, or they dropped out when they were attending primary school.
Lubumbashi, D.R. Congo – June 25th, 2016 – In the chapel of the theological institute “Saint François de Sales”,on June 25th, there was the celebration of the mass for the closure of the academic year. The Eucharist was presided over by Fr. Jean-Claude Ngoy, Provincial of Central Africa (AFC), concelebrated by the Rector of the Institute, Fr. Jean-Luc Vande Kerkhove, and was attended by formators, some priests and professors. During the mass, some students of the first year and 16 students of the second year received respectively the ministry of Lectors and Acolytes.
