After the Mass presided by Vietnam's Provincial, Fr Joseph Nguyen Van Quang, the two Councilors of Youth Ministry and Social Communication, respectively, Fr Fabio Attard and Fr Filiberto González, offered introductory messages.
The delegates were then divided into 4 groups to analyze the levels of cooperation achieved between the two sectors in the region's Salesian districts. The results of the reflection were then shared in the assembly.
In the afternoon, after welcoming the Regional Councilor for East Asia, Fr Václav Klement, Fr Attard and Fr Filiberto each presented the Reference Framework for the Salesian Youth Ministry and the Salesian System of Social Communication (SSSC).
Fr Attard highlighted the path of the Salesian YM within that of the Church; he spoke of how pastoral models needed to derive from pastoral choices and criteria attentive to listening to the young and listening to the Gospel, within the Salesian educational-evangelizing framework. "It is a process that must be realized with the contribution of everyone and is addressed to everyone."
In addition to outlining the fundamental features of the SSCS, Fr González recalled that at the heart of all Salesian Communication there was always Christ and the poorest and neediest young people. Regarding the challenge of rethinking and re-defining Social Communication throughout the region, the Councilor underlined the importance of modifying some aspects of formation, along with communication styles and channels: internal, with laity and with and the recipients of the Salesian mission.
The two presentations were followed by a forum open to all for dialogue, in separate groups, aimed at discussing how to strengthen collaboration between the two sectors. The result of these discussions was then presented to the assembly; on the basis of the input and feedback, some concrete proposals were drawn up, proposals Fr Attard and Fr González will further elaborate in Rome, for final approval.
