SPECIAL REPORTS

(ANS - Rome) - From the very beginning, humanity has cultivated the art of storytelling. Stories are an activity that is the basis of every human relationship. In recent years, the communication industry has taken this art into hand, making it known as "storytelling". On January 24, 2020, the feast of St. Francis of Sales, Pope Francis sent a message for the 54th World Communications Day, entitled: "That you may tell your children and grandchildren (Ex 10:2). Life becomes history". "I would like to dedicate this year's Message to the theme of storytelling," says the opening message.

(ANS – Rome) – With the fast-approaching 400th anniversary of Saint Francis de Sales (1567-1622) in two years, that is, 2022, we may see a growing movement of Don Bosco's Salesian Family to explore their Patron Saint. The overall feeling in many provinces is that the young Salesians don't know much about St. Francis de Sales. There are two new young missionaries ready to enter Mongolia - one has read the Philothea (Lover of God) - Introduction to the Devout Life - of Saint Francis de Sales already 10 times, but the other young missionary (both practical trainees) never even heard about this book! Astounding!

(ANS - Rome) - Our communication is increasingly mediated by electronic devices that connect us to the network and that modify our perception not only of reality, but also of interpersonal relationships. More and more various types of Artificial Intelligence manage many of our activities, get to know us by tracing our network activities and are used to influence our behavior. It is no wonder that economic-financial and political powers are interested in using the cognitive, analytical and predictive power of algorithms.

(ANS – Port-au-Prince) – Salesian missionaries were instrumental during the emergency response and the initial aftermath of the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti on Jan. 12, 2010. Missionaries had been in Haiti for nearly 75 years at that point, providing education and other social development programs for poor youth and their families long before the earthquake struck.
