In total, more than 200 dreams from all over the Salesian world embellish the pages of this "treasure" that has taken the form of a "Coffee Table Book", a book to browse and everything to appreciate. It is as if these inspiring stories are diamonds to be discovered.
Among the many dreams, young people have expressed some such as being really listened to and understood in their life expectations, in their way of seeing the world and moving in it; experiencing a close God, really incarnated and alive in human situations; feeling accepted by the Church and by the Salesian presences as they are, without having to force their ways of being into stereotypes; following their vocation, the paths to discover it and their faith in the essential; building their professional project, despite the uncertainties and questions of social, political and technological transformations; trust in personal effort and in the support of the family as fundamental conditions for improving their lives and approach adulthood; being adults who can be a point of reference, passionate, clear, determined regarding their lives and guides in their own process; enhancing the context in which they live with concrete actions through noble statements such as "being able to help others".
The photographs accompany the dreams and it is exciting to look at the faces of the young people, their smiles, their expressions and even the signs that some of them carry in the photo. "The dreams of our young people have been drawn within the walls of the home, within the family, drawn on the table of their daily lives. They are wonderful dreams that herald a more beautiful and more humane world. Let's make young peoples' dreams our own and we will have a world with the fragrance of a real spring", says Fr Joebeth Vivo, a member of the Salesians of Don Bosco's Youth Ministry Sector.
"Young people run through the streets of their dreams, chasing certainties that often the adult world has not been able to propose. But the young people are here: brave and ready. Dreams, projects, businesses, programs and adventures: they are beautiful, important, precious things like diamonds!", says Antonella Sinagoga.
Fr García concludes: "The dream is an anthropological and existential category that allows us today to rediscover interest in existence, closeness to the other and courage in undertaking the effort to build a better world. Our young people have expressed the need for someone to invite them to look out the window of their bedroom or classroom, to stand up and tie their shoes. We stopped making history because we stopped dreaming. "
The prefaces of the Rector Major, Card. Ángel Fernández Artime, and the Mother General of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, Mother Chiara Cazzuola are valuable, as well as the introduction by the General Councillor for Youth Ministry, Fr García Morcuende.
The volume will also be produced in print, but it is already possible to admire it in the digital version accessible here.
