The initiative starts from an unquestionable assumption: food is also a gift from God, which nourishes, satisfies and connects people, showing everyone the richness of cultural variety.
The project, curated by Fr Pavel Ženisek, a member of the Missions Sector, consists of publishing one recipe a week, presenting a two-page sheet with the ingredients of the dish, how it is prepared, suggestions or information about the country, and some news about the Salesian presence.
The recipes are posted weekly on the Salesian Missions Sector's Instagram and Facebook channels, are sent along with the monthly missionary animation bulletin "Cagliero11," and can be downloaded here.
The ultimate goal is the publication of the "BoscoFood Book" cookbook in 2025, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the First Salesian Missionary Expedition.
In addition, continuing its commitment to foster and animate the participation of young people and members of the Salesian Family on the Internet, the Sector for the Missions also accompanies this initiative with the social challenge of the "BoscoFood Contest": everyone is invited to cook these dishes and post photos of them on social networks, using the hashtag #boscofood and tagging @missionisalesiane.
"Have fun in the kitchen!" says the Salesian Missions Sector.
