The objectives were:
- to strengthen the need and urgency for Salesian pastoral care
- to take on the pedagogical tool of personal accompaniment
- to promote a better understanding of pastoral care from a Salesian perspective
- to acquire skills that make it possible to offer human and spiritual help to young people.
The presentations focused on different aspects:
- the person of the animator
- the various stages of accompaniment in the life of faith
- the questions that often accompany the process of growth in the human, vocational and spiritual life of young people
- relationships and its dynamics in the accompaniment process
- some aspects of the accompanying interviews or talks
In addition, a fruitful dialogue was also emerged on various issues related to the context of the Province and the problems, local and otherwise, of the world of youth.
“Personal accompaniment, however understood, has to do with the most intimate, personal and inviolable aspects of people. We are allowed to enter with absolute modesty, starting from the humility of those who know that they are being invited to participate, and only as an accompanying person, in the path of the Spirit that the person accompanied is already following,” Fr García Morcuende explained. “Accompanying a person brings with it the idea of a journey, a path, a trajectory. This is why our young people need guides, teachers and people with a great soul.”
