India – Being a Tangible Sign of Hope: Gathering of Salesian Brothers from Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Panjim
Odxel, India – March 2025 – From March 10 to 12, the Salesian Brothers from the Hyderabad (INH), Mumbai (INB), and Panjim (INP) Provinces gathered at the Panjim Provincial House for a special meeting. The event was coordinated by Br. James Marcus, SDB, Delegate for Salesian Brothers in South Asia. On the opening day, the Salesian Brothers were encouraged to be “a tangible sign of hope” and reflected on the 2025 Strenna, “Anchored in Hope, Pilgrims with the Young,” as well as the Papal Bull “Spes Non Confundit” (Hope Does Not Disappoint). In the following days, participants engaged in discussions on youth ministry, active listening, non-judgmental behavior, and the role of the Salesian Youth Movement. They also visited the Pre-Novitiate in Loutulim, where they shared their vocational stories, answered questions about identity and challenges in their vocation, and participated in sports tournaments. The gathering also included planning sessions, discussions, and evaluations on future actions to be taken. This meeting reaffirmed the Salesian Brothers’ ongoing dedication to their mission and values, fostering a united and collaborative community striving to make a positive impact on the lives of young people.
