Currently, too many are still unable to access education.
Don Bosco and photography
St Giovanni Bosco was the first saint in history to be photographed.
There are 42 photographs of Don Bosco; as historical figures, only Garibaldi and Italy's King Vittorio Emanuele II have more.
Don Bosco's photos range from 1861 to 1888, the date of his death.
In the first photos of 1861 he was ill and they were taken to keep a memory of him in case he died.
In Argentina, Salesians respond to the emergency with solidarity
There are 167,416 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Argentina (updated 28/07/2020) and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean estimates that poverty levels in Latin America could reach 34.7%, while unemployment would rise to 11.9%.
10 stats to know about the environment
The Salesian Bulletin of Brazil lists 10 environmental statistics on which to reflect.
1) 70% of the earth's surface is covered with water (2.2% fresh water; only 0.3% available for consumption);
2) 3.4 million: the number of people who die on average every year in the world due to contaminated water;
3) Deforestation is the main concern in terms of environmental issues;
4) A ton of recycled paper:
- saves 22 trees
- saves 71% of electricity
- reduces air pollution by 74%
