In about 100 countries, persecution has increased in absolute terms and Christians killed for reasons related to their faith, between October 1, 2020 and September 30, 2021, exceed 5,800, about 23% more than the previous year's figures.
Still considering the time period, between October 1, 2020 and September 30, 2021, the persecution figures are as follows:
- Christians persecuted worldwide: more than 360 million
- Christians killed: 5,898
- Churches and related buildings attacked or closed: 5,110
- Christians arrested without trial, imprisoned: 6,175
- Christians kidnapped: 3,829
