(ANS - Hua Hin) - More than a century ago Don Bosco repeated to his benefactors that helped him financially: "Without your help we could do nothing of what we do." But at the same time he had the clear and concrete conviction that it was the Provident God who manifested Himself through people. For this reason he said to the Oratorians: "Boy, go to the chapel and pray for an intention of Don Bosco." Yesterday's benefactors became part of the "Salesian Mission Office", which is an instrument to search for and send essential economic aid to the sowers of the Kingdom.

Being held from August 26 to 30, in the city of Hua Hin, Thailand, is the meeting entitled: "Strengthening the capacities of Salesian leaders and laity of the Provinces of the East Asia-Oceania Region". This meeting is taking place in the Salesian Retreat House of Vitthayalai College.

Fr John Bosco Thepharat Pitisant, Superior of the THA Province, welcomed over 30 participants from 17 East Asian countries. The event is also attended by a guest of the Salesian Mission Office of Latin America, Marcos Calderón, a lay person from the Salesian Province of Peru. Fr Pitisant welcomed participants, stating that the Salesian Community has opened its doors to welcome and encourage all those who come to this location.

This meeting is organized by the Office of the Missions Sector of the General Administration of the Central Headquarters in Rome and also sees the presence of Fr George Menamparampil, Coordinator of the Salesian Mission Offices, of Fr Adriano Satura and of Leah Samson, of the Asia-East Oceania region.

The purpose of the meeting is to lay the groundwork for fundraising, strengthen fundraising capabilities and, above all, encouraging people to start upon this task. One of the objectives of this event is: "to analyze, cultivate and identify funding sources, communicate and receive donations, as part of a process."

With the participation of all those present and the exchange of experiences, "we want this moment to be rich in learning, knowledge and wisdom, to do things in the best way for the benefit of missions and young people in vulnerable situations, to whom we always pay special attention," said Fr George.
