Woźniaków-Kutno, Poland - March 2017 - From 17 to 19 March seventy members of the Association of Salesian Cooperators (ASC) from various local centres of the Warsaw province and the centre at Ciechanów gathered in Kutno-Woźniaków for a spiritual retreat led by Fr Adam Węgrzyn, SDB on the theme "School of Love". The event was attended by the Provincial Delegates - Fr Henryk Bonkowski, SDB and Sister Teresa Nowak FMA - and the Local Delegate, Fr Adam Wtulich SDB.
Turin, Italy - March 2017 – SYM Day was held on 19 March at Valdocco, with hundreds of young people from different works of the Salesians and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians in Piedmont and Valle d'Aosta. The young people, with the spirit of joy and celebration so dear to the Saint of Youth, had the opportunity to discuss and share the experience of several witnesses of Christian charity to try to answer the gospel question: "Teacher, where do you live?"
Caracas, Venezuela - March 2017 - The priestly ordination of the Salesian Vietnamese missionary Jose Do Van Dung took place in the parish of Mary Help of Christians in Sarría, Caracas, in the Province of Venezuela (VEN). Fr Jose Do Van Dung was ordained by the laying on of hands by Bishop José Angel Divasson Cilvetti, SDB, bishop emeritus of the Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Ayacucho, where the newly ordained priest will work.
(ANS - Rome) – Fr Thomas Pallithanam is an active missionary in a small Salesian community in Ravulapalem in Andhra Pradesh. He is also the coordinator of one of the most important organizations of Indian civil society, "Wada Na Todo Abhiyan". The two cornerstones of his work are a global vision and local initiatives. He now speaks about his work in an interview with ANS.
São Paulo, Brazil - March 2017 - On 14 and 15 March, the Brazilian Salesian Communications Network met in São Paulo to evaluate the projects carried out to date and dialogue on the challenges and prospects of the network. The meeting was attended by coordinators and delegates of the Provinces of the Salesians and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians.
Zaragoza, Spain - March 2017 - Teresa Villanueva Orbaiz, a Salesian Cooperator, was awarded the Gold Medal of Merit from the Professional College of Nurses of Zaragoza. Teresa is a nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the Miguel Servet Hospital. She has professional experience of over 30 years, taking care of new-born babies with health problems. In particular, she supports the family in a very delicate moment. She is associate professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Zaragoza and nursing tutor in the Paediatric Hospital. She collaborates with the training of future nurses. In the Salesian house of Zaragoza she has been working as a catechist for over 5 years.
