Tarnowskie Góry, Poland - April 2018 - From 12 to 14 April the formative meeting of the Salesians of the quinquennium of the Provinces of Krakow (PLS) and Wrocław (PLO) took place on the theme "Following Don Bosco - my today and tomorrow". The event was attended by 36 Salesians from various centers of Southern Poland. Among the various activities, the Salesians of the five-year term participated in a demonstration lesson of the "Mobile School" of Robert Cieślar, of the group of street educators working at Bytom, called "Uno". Every day the Eucharist was celebrated, presided by the Provincials Fr Jarosław Pizoń (PLO) and Fr Adam Parszywka (PLS).
Bafia, Cameroon - April 2018 - From 13 to 15 April the national meeting of the Salesian Youth Movement took place on the theme "We cultivate the art of listening and accompanying." During the event two conferences were held: "Jesus and the Samaritan" of the Salesian Brother Metoule David; and "Relationship between faith and vocational discernment in the life of young people" by Fr André Ela Enam. The concluding Mass was presided by Fr Alphonse Owoudou, Superior of the Vice Province of Equatorial Tropical Africa.
Guayaquil, Ecuador - April 2018 - On April 5, the last formation session for young volunteer missionaries "Costa Volunteers 2018-2019" began, with the participation of 35 young people from Ecuador and 3 from Uruguay, Chile and Mexico. The event ended on April 8 with the Mass celebrating the sending of missionaries wherein the youths received the missionary cross and assigned the destination where they will perform their voluntary service for a year.
Canlubang, Philippines - April 2018 - On 15 April Fr Fabio Attard, General Councilor for Youth Ministry, met the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of Laguna. During the meeting Fr Attard spoke about the importance of vocational accompaniment, presented the main elements of the preparatory document of the Synod on Youth and recalled the importance of Salesian assistance as the fundamental basis for building a relationship with young people.
Vienna, Austria - April 2018 - On April 13, the documentary "Love", directed by Raúl de la Fuente and produced by Madrid's "Misiones Salesianas", was presented by the partner organization of Don Bosco "Jugend Eine Welt" and shown for the first time in Austria. The documentary highlights the difficult situation of young prostitutes in Freetown (Sierra Leone) and the help they receive from the Salesian center and NGO "Don Bosco Fambul", for many years supported by "Jugend Eine Welt". After the screening, there was a forum; speaking: Fr Jorge Crisafulli, Director of "Don Bosco Fambul"; Alberto López of "Misiones Salesianas"; Pascale Reinke-Schreiber, an expert from the United Nations; Katharina Schreiber, of the Austrian Development Agency, and Sr. Anna Mayerhofe, from the international organization for Human Rights "Solwodi".
Montréal, Canada - April 2018 - The Salesian Family Day took place on the theme of the Rector Major's 2018 Strenna on April 7. Besides the study of several documents of the SF Spirituality Days of Turin-Valdocco, in January, a number of testimonies on the themes of listening and accompaniment were presented by a Salesian (female) Cooperator and a Salesian.
