Peru – May 2024 - The first Salesians arrived in Peru in 1891 and spread devotion to Mary Help of Christians. The image that still enters the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians in Lima at every novena carried on shoulders is the first of Mary Help of Christians, carved in Sarriá (Barcelona, Spain). The spread of devotion to Mary Help of Christians in Lima began with her in 1900.

Porto Alegre, Brazil – May 2024 – On 18 May the 37 volunteers of UniSALESIANO, belonging to the Salesian Province of Campo Grande Brazil (BCG), began their humanitarian mission entitled "Health does not wait" in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, devastated by recent floods. The group consists of doctors, nurses, veterinarians, psychologists, final year nursing students and medical students with Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLs) qualifications and is led by Dr. Ângelo Jacomossi, head of the IESC Curriculum Unit and professor of the UniSALESIANO Medicine Course. The volunteers, after 28 hours of travel, arrived at their destination and were welcomed by Fr Ademir Ricardo Cwendrych, Superior of the Province of Porto Alegre Brazil (BPA), and by the Executive Director of the Don Bosco Faculty, Prof. Edson Avila. They were then accompanied to the various reception centres in the city and began their work in the emergency health services. Already a short time after their arrival, the group of volunteers has made a difference in the lives of many people in need of help. In addition to contributing to the provision of vital medical care, they have brought hope and humanity to the victims of the Rio Grande do Sul floods. "The dedication of the volunteers and the warm welcome they received highlight the importance and positive impact of their work," said Prof. André Ornellas, Pro-Rector for Teaching and Specialisation Studies at UniSALESIANO.

Córdoba, Argentina – May 2024 - The Curatorium of the Michael Rua postnovitiate in Córdoba was held on Monday, 13 May, , in the presence of Fr Horacio Barbieri, Superior of the Province of Northern Argentina (ARN); Fr Nelson Moreno, Superior of the Province of Chile (CIL); Fr Mario Villalba, Superior of the Province of Paraguay (PAR); Fr Francisco Lezama, Superior of the Province of Uruguay (URU), and Fr Osvaldo Braccia, Vice-Provincial of the Province of Southern Argentina (ARS). During the day, the superiors sharedthe challenges with the formation team and the postnovices  that the postnovitiate Salesian must face for these countries of the South Cone Region. In this meeting, as is customary, the community project for this year, the different apostolates that accompany each other and the study center that the postnovices follow were presented. Several opportunities for dialogue and sharing followed, to continue exploring and growing in the experience of this formative stage. At the end of the morning, the Eucharist was celebrated, including exploring the life of Mary Mazzarello, a model of Salesian holiness. In the afternoon, at the end of the Curatorium, the superiors left some suggestions and evaluations to continue the growth and path of the postnovitiate.

Lima, Peru – May 2024 - The Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, represented by Dr. Eduardo Melchor Arana Ysa, a former student of the 1982 class of the Salesian Don Bosco School in Callao, has granted special recognition to the Salesian Congregation of Peru for its valuable work in the educational field and the formation of children, adolescents and young people. Present in the ministerial headquarters were accompaniers and directors of the Don Bosco school in Callao, the San Francisco de Sales and María Auxiliadora schools. Fr José Valdivia, representing Fr Fernando Rodríguez, promoter of the Salesian Don Bosco and San Francisco schools, expressed his gratitude for this gesture of closeness and commitment on the part of the minister, to whom he gave, as a sign of affection, a small statue of Mary Help of Christians. Similarly, directors Silvio Aylas, of the Don Bosco del Callao School; Alexis Barreto, of the an Francisco de Sales" School; and Sister Paola Bravo, director of María Auxiliadora, expressed their gratitude and their commitment to continue education according to Don Bosco's preventive system.
Finally, the minister underlined the commitment of the Salesians to continue the education of young people.

Kansebula, DR Congo - May 2024 – On 20 May Bishop Gaston Ruvezi, SDB, Bishop of Sakania Kipushi, presided over the opening Mass of the 22nd Provincial Chapter of the Salesian Province of Central Africa (AFC). Some provincial superiors of other religious institutes, as well as the Salesian Chapter members and many diocesan priests, concelebrated the solemn mass, testifying to their support and communion of heart and spirit with all the Salesians gathered to experience this significant moment for the AFC Province. All the other branches of the Salesian Family were also well represented. Fr Guillermo Basanes, Superior of the AFC Province, commented on the day's readings, inviting Chapter members to unity. At the end of the opening Mass, the various speeches were read, including one from Fr Didier Umbi, Moderator of the Provincial Chapter who thanked Bishop Ruvezi for his availability, the members of the Salesian Family present and the St John Bosco community in Kansebula for the preparation of the facilities.

Turin, Italy – May 2024 – The work of the World Salesian Family Advisory Council continues, which sees the Major Superiors and Leaders of the groups that make up the Salesian Family gathered at the Mother House of the Salesians of Don Bosco in Valdocco, Turin to reflect on the theme: "God's dream about the Salesian Family in our time". On 22 May after the Eucharistic celebration presided over by Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major, and the homily by Fr Stefano Martoglio, Vicar of the Rector Major, a photo was taken in the courtyard at Valdocco. In the afternoon, the participants visited the Consolata Shrine led by Fr Pier Luigi Cameroni, Postulator General for the Causes of Saints of the Salesian Family. Finally, the presentation of  "Chiamati all’Amore con Speranza", with the Strennas that the Rector Major has produced and disseminated in his 10 years at the head of the Salesian Congregation, presented by Fr Giuseppe Costa, Co-spokesman of the Salesian Congregation and editor of the volume.
