(ANS – Rome) – In many Salesian communities, schools and parishes the youth and Lay Mission Partners can't understand that they are truly part of one “World - wide community” (SDB Constitutions art. 59). One of the most visible signs of this global Salesian communion is a simple world map with all Salesian provinces around the 132 countries. After two years there is again the chance to print out an updated version, with the more recent statistics of each Salesian Province and Delegations.
(ANS – Cisternino) – From February 5th to 12th the towns of Locorotondo (Bari) and Cisternino (Brindisi) lived a week of celebrations with great attendance of people on the occasion of the declaration on behalf of Pope Francis of the Venerability of Fr. Francesco Convertini, a Salesian missionary in India (1898-1976).
(ANS – Rukago) – “Sexual violence, the stigma of HIV and high maternal mortality block the development of women in Burundi, the small great forsaken country of Central Africa”. The title of a reportage published on the daily “El País” – “Daughters of the Cursed Great Lakes” – represents well the crude reality of the women of that land, victims of abuses, violence and habitual violations. In front of all this, the Spanish Salesian NGO “Solidaridad Don Bosco” (Don Bosco Solidarity) remains firm in its work in favour of women.
