(ANS - Asunción) - "Mass riots and one person dead after a part of the ruling party, which supports President Horacio Cartes, promoted a reform of the constitution to allow for his re-election in 2018", according to reports these last few days in the international media. Faced with this difficult situation, the Episcopal Conference of Paraguay has asked them not to insist on the possibility of presidential re-election through a constitutional amendment, because it causes unnecessary tensions which "could result in violence with unpredictable consequences."
(ANS - Vatican City) - On Saturday 1 April, Pope Francis erected two new dioceses in Equatorial Guinea, those of Evinayong and Mongomo, by dividing the Dioceses of Bata and Ebibeyin, and made them suffragans of the Metropolitan See of Malabo. In addition to appointing bishops of the two new dioceses, the Holy Father also appointed the current Superior of the Salesian Vice-Province of Tropical Equatorial Africa (ATE), Fr Miguel Angel Nguema Bee, SDB, as the new Bishop of Ebibeyin.
(ANS – Rome) – One of the subject matters on which the Department of Youth Ministry focused its work between 2015 and 2018 is the topic of the family, as requested by the two Synods on the pastoral challenges of the family (2014 and 2015) and the 27th General Chapter (2014). RMG – Don Bosco: “The Fascinating Saint”
(ANS - Rome) - Don Bosco is perhaps the most amazing and fascinating saint, history has ever produced. The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

Argentina – UNISAL Participates in the International Forum “Territories of the Future: South Atlantic and Antarctica”
(ANS – Río Grande) – From February 19 to 21, the cities of Río Grande, Tolhuin, and Ushuaia hosted the International Forum “Territories of the Future: South Atlantic and Antarctica”, organized by the University Network for the Care of the Common Home (RUC) and the Municipality of Río Grande, with support from the National University of Tierra del Fuego (UNTDF). The event brought together universities from Argentina, Latin America, and the Caribbean to discuss sustainability and conservation in these regions, with the Salesian University of Argentina (UNISAL) playing an important role.
