Five points of interest about the Missionary Month

October is the month dedicated to missionaries, the month in which the Salesian world also joins them in supporting this valuable work. On this occasion, the Salesian Bulletin of Brazil summarised five interesting points to know.

Saint Therese of Lisieux

In October, the Missionary Month is celebrated, which begins with the commemoration of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus, Patroness of the missions.

World Mission Sunday

In 1926, Pope Pius XI established World Mission Sunday, which is celebrated on the third Sunday of October and which gave rise to the Missionary Month.

Message for Mission Day 2024

This year's Message of the Missionary Month was chosen by Pope Francis and taken from the Gospel of Matthew: "Go and invite everyone to the banquet" (cf. Mt 22: 9).

Topic

The theme of the Missionary Month 2024 is: "Witnesses of Christ with the strength of the Spirit". This theme calls us to reflect on the central role of the Holy Spirit in the missionary life of the Church.

Commitment

During the Missionary Month, the Catholic Church invites us to reflect on the missionary commitment of every Christian: to be an "outgoing Church" and a living witness of the Gospel of Christ in the world.
