Indonesia - April 2016 - Fr Alfred Maravilla, from the Missions Sector concluded his visit of missionary animation to the Delegation of Indonesia. From 26 April to 1 May he visited the houses of formation in Sunter, Serpong and Sumba, meeting the aspirants, novices and post-novices and their formators and speaking to them about the missionary spirit as an essential element of the charism of Don Bosco.
Sliema, Malta - May 2016 - A Meeting of the Provincials of the Region of Central and Northern Europe (16 Provinces and 2 Delegations) was held from 28 April to 1 May under the leadership of the Regional Councillor Fr Tadeusz Rozmus. It dealt with current problems and the most important challenges in the region. Also present were the Vicar of the Rector Major, Fr Francesco Cereda; the Economer General, Bro. Jean Paul Muller; the Delegate of the Rector Major for the Salesian Family, Fr Eusebio Muñoz; the President of the Association of Past Pupils, Mr Michal Hort, and Fr Rafael Gasol who is responsible for Project Valdocco. Particularly significant was the visit of the President of the Republic of Malta, Marie Louise Coleiro, who expressed her appreciation for the Salesian charism and the presence of the Salesians in Malta, highlighting the great value and relevance of their educational work on behalf of poor youth.
(ANS - Madrid) - In the course of a really festive occasion, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major, presented himself as a father, offering the appropriate word to each group he met. Meeting the 400 Salesians he spoke to them from the heart: "We have a beautiful Congregation"; "We are people of faith, with our weaknesses", but with "a common project" and "we do a lot of good."
(ANS - Rome) - Being alert and conscious communicators, knowing that presence on the Internet is one of the signs of the times to be accepted and used as a gift of God - this was the central theme of the 2016 Salesian Communication Days. This is now the fifth year of this initiative which took place in Rome at the Salesian Pontifical University on 29 and 30 April. Over 160 members of the Salesian Family in formation took part to study the Pope’s message for the 50th World Social Communications Day.
