01. Castelnuovo Don Bosco, Italy – August 2024 - On 16 August, Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, 10th Successor of Don Bosco, taking into account the decree of the Holy See, resigned as Rector Major, while his Vicar, Fr Stefano Martoglio, took over the interim government of the Congregation. The event took place on the day recalling Don Bosco's birthday, during the concluding Mass of the Salesian Synod of Young People.
02. Castelnuovo Don Bosco, Italy – August 2024 – On 13 August, the Rector Major, Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, blessed and opened the "Park of Dreams" at Colle Don Bosco. The event took place as part of the Salesian Synod of Young People organised by Salesian Youth Ministry to celebrate and renew the prophetic dream that John Bosco had as a young nin-year-old, 200 years later.
03. Rome, Italy – August 2024 – The "Shaping Tomorrow" World Communication Conference was held from 1 to 7 August at the Pontifical Salesian University (UPS). The event was promoted by the Congregation's Social Communication Sector and the UPS Faculty of Social Communication Sciences to form delegates and communication teams to meet the current challenges of the Sector.
04. Tiruchy, India – August 2024 - The Salesian Province of Tiruchy, India (INT) celebrated the 25th anniversary of its establishment on Sunday 4 August with a solemn celebration with the Salesian Family at the Don Bosco Media Centre in Manikandam. The event was presided over by Fr Stefano Martoglio, Vicar of the Rector Major.
05. Jakarta, Indonesia – August 2024 - The 8th East Asia-Oceania Region (EAO) Region Salesian Brothers Congress took place from 4 to 9 August 2024 in Jakarta. Over a hundred Salesians attended the event, accompanied by Fr Joseph Phuoc, Councillor for the EAO Region, the General Councillor for Formation, Fr Ivo Coelho, and the Economer General, Br Jean Paul Muller.
06. San Gabriel de Cachoeira, Brazil – August 2024 – On 18 August, Fr Gabriel Romero, Councillor for the America South Cone Region, blessed the new Indigenous Training Centre in San Gabriel de Cachoeira, in the Province of Manaus, Brazil, which accepts a group of ten applicants from different ethnic groups.
07. Leauva'a, Samoa – August 2024 – On 22 August 2024, the Archdiocese of Samoa Apia joyfully celebrated the Episcopal Ordination of Archbishop Mosese Vitolio Tui, SDB, as its new Archbishop. He is the first Salesian to take on this role in the country. The celebration was presided over by Bishop Peter Brown, in the presence of Fr Peter Hoang, Superior of the Australia-Pacific Province (AUL).
08. Nairobi, Kenya – August 2024 – The Provincial Delegates for Mission Animation from Provinces and Vice-Provinces from the Africa-Madagascar Region met from 17 to 21 August for a moment of interaction and networking. Fr Alfred Maravilla, General Councillor for the Missions, and Fr Alphonse Owoudou, Councillor for the Africa-Madagascar Region, spoke at the event.
