01. Turin, Italy – May 2023 - From 9 to 13 May in Valdocco,Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major, presided over the Team Visit to the Central and North Europe Region, which was also attended by his Vicar, the Sector Councillors, the Regional Councillor, the Central Delegate of the Rector Major for the Secretariat for the Salesian Family, and the Provincial Councils of the entire Region: in total, 118 people.
02. Canary Islands, Spain – May 2023 - The Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, visited the Salesian works in the Canary Islands from 2 to 5 May. It is an institutional visit, as part of the celebrations for the 75th anniversary of the Salesians in La Orotava and for the centenary of the Salesians in Las Palmas.
03. Livorno, Italy – May 2023 - On the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the Salesian presence in the city, the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, went to Livorno on the weekend of 27 and 28 May, to experience and animate the events organised by the Don Bosco Salesian parish. Many young people took part.
04. Vatican – May 2023 - Salesian Cardinals and Bishops, the Rector Major, the Rector Major Emeritus, the General Councillor for Social Communication, journalists and various personalities participated in the presentation of the book Il carisma della Presenza e della Speranza: un anno viaggiando con don Ángel Fernández Artime (The Charism of Presence and Hope. A year travelling with Fr Ángel Fernández Artime), edited by Fr Giuseppe Costa, co-spokesperson of the Salesian Congregation. The event took place on 30 May at the Teutonic College in the Vatican.
05. Palabek, Uganda – May 2023 – The General Councillor for the Missions, Fr Alfred Maravilla, accompanied by Fr Pierre Célestin Ngoboka, Superior of the Africa-Great Lakes Vice-Province (AGL), and the Rector of the Salesian community, visited the Palabek Refugee Centre from 2 to 3 May. One of the most moving moments was the Eucharist during which 17 students were baptised.
06. Vienna, Austria – May 2023 – The General Councillor for Social Communication, Fr Gildasio Mendes, made an Animation Visit to the Province of Austria, where he was able to appreciate the work of the Salesians in the care of young refugees, the climate of shared responsibility with the laity in the management of the works and the commitment to transmit beauty and spirituality through art.
07. Concepción, Chile – 30 May 2023 – The Vicar of the Rector Major, Fr Stefano Martoglio, visited the Salesians in Concepción and blessed the St Dominic Savio Hall on the occasion. The event, which began with a warm greeting from the Rector, Fr Claudio Cartes, the Principal, Ida Sepúlveda, and the President of the Student Centre, Patricio Báez, saw the enthusiastic participation of students and members of the community.
08. Yaoundé, Cameroon – May 2023 – The 2nd Regional Congress of Salesian Brothers from the Africa-Madagascar Region was held in Yaoundé from 24 to 29 May, on the theme "Walking with Raphael and Tobiah, pedalling with Artemides". The congress, accompanied by Fr Alphonse Owoudou, Councillor for the Africa-Madagascar Region,brought together 39 Salesian Brothers from 13 Salesian circumscriptions.
