(ANS - Bologna) – The Community of the Mission of Don Bosco, 28th Group of the Salesian Family, carried out their 2nd General Assembly from 2 – 10 July, on the theme “As the Father has loved me, so I love you.  Remain in my love (John 15:9) – with a particular spirituality in the Church and in the Salesian Family.” Delegates of the Community and the Salesian Delegates coming from Argentina, Chile, Haiti, Ghana, Burundi, Madagascar, Poland and Italy participated during the assembly days held in Bologna and Rome.

The assembly is organized every six years to verify the status of the community, to plan the next six years and to elect the General Council, which in this occasion has seen the choice of an African for the first time.

During the days of the assembly, the following delivered their address: Fr. Francesco Cereda, Vicar of the Rector Major, a reflection on the contents of Salesian Spirituality; Fr. Eusebio Munoz, Delegate of the Rector Major for the Salesian Family; Noemi Bertola, World Coordinator of the Salesian Cooperators; Tullio Lucca, World President of the Association of Mary Help of Christians; Don Claudio Cacioli, Provincial of ILE; and Don Antonio Rota, Delegate of the Community of the Mission of Don Bosco in Italy.

In the scope of the proceedings, a panel discussion on the situation of the youth was held on 5 July with Mgr. Matteo Zuppi, Archbishop of Bologna among those invited. On 7 July, the Assembly moved to Rome, with the possibility to present the work of the Assembly to Don Angel Fernandez Artime, Rector Major.

In the end, Fr. Adriano Bregolin, former Vicar of the Rector Major, delivered also a meaningul message on the importance of formation and of communication.

Through the work of the Assembly, the reading and re-readings of the last 15 years of the life of the Community of the Mission of Don Bosco, the charismatic identity of the community was traced based on their specific spirituality – the Spirituality of Research – on the educative system that is engaging, grounded on the philosophy of “believing-inspiring-involving-creating,” the actualization of the Preventive System.

On 10 July, Sunday, Guido Pedroni, the General Guardian, presented the final document of the Assembly, delineating the characteristics of the Spirituality of Research and the significant elements of the four strategic points of community life: formation, communication, economy and legal aspects.
