(ANS - Rome) - Many elements that are traditionally associated with the figure of Don Bosco, such as the oratory, educational institutes or vocational training schools, were not his inventions. And yet nothing of what Don Bosco took and reinterpreted remained the same after his passage: with what were already known elements, he was able to create universally appreciated models that have remained valid over the centuries – still as current and young as he is.
(ANS - Lyon) - The "courtyard or playground" pedagogy, so dear to the Salesian Preventive System, does not leave young people indifferent. They are positively marked by the closeness of their educators in times of recreation. This was also the experience of two young students from the "Notre Dame des Minimes" institute in Lyon.
(ANS - Rome) - The world celebrates today the "United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples", from which the "World's Indigenous Peoples Day" is derived. Just another date on the calendar? It would seem so. In fact, "Indigenous Peoples" do not matter much; what should concern us are the "indigenous": 5000 groups, according to the United Nations, thousands of people across circa 90 countries, who speak the overwhelming majority of the world's 7000 languages, and whom represent a marvelous diversity.
(ANS – Rome) – With the imminent start of the 7th East Asia-Oceania Salesian Brother Congress in Vietnam (K’Long, Vietnam – August, 9-12), many would ask “Indeed how many are the Salesian Brothers among the 1422 Salesians SDB in this Region (January 1, 2018)?”
