Seville, Spain - 1973 - On May 11, 1973, the first National Congress of Mary Help of Christians began in Seville. The Congress, which lasted until May 15, focused on how to serve Mary in times when issues such as poverty, immigration, social exclusion, and vulnerable families were emerging.
Rome, Italy - 1940 - On May 3, 1940, the Holy See, through a special decree signed by Card. Giuseppe Pizzardo, approved and erected the Pontifical Salesian Athenaeum, under the leadership of Fr. Ricaldone, who was the first Grand Chancellor. The Athenaeum, despite the difficulties caused by World War II, continued its activities and even managed to start, at the Faculty of Philosophy, an Institute and Seminary of Pedagogy.
San Salvador, El Salvador - 1931 - A group of young people pose together with the Salesians at the Festive Oratory of the "Blessed Don Bosco" Center in the city of San Salvador. The Center was named after "Blessed" Don Bosco since he, clearly, had not yet been canonized at the time. The image was posted on the Flickr channel of the Salesian Bulletin of Central America.
Vienna, Austria - 1904 - On his second trip to Austria in 1904, Fr. Michael Rua visited the Kinderschutz Station in Vienna. In this old photograph we see him surrounded by Salesians and many children, holding a large picture of Don Bosco in their hands.
