RMG - Video message of the Rector Major for Christmas 2016

24 December 2016

(ANS – Rome) - Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco, has delivered the 2016 Christmas message to the Salesian Family. “My dearest Salesian confreres I sincerely desire to greet you and wish you wholeheartedly a very happy Christmas and a happy new year”. After these words of greetings, Fr Ángel invites all of us to live Christmas in a renewed manner. We know that God loves us in an extrahordinary and wonderful way: “He has sought a family to make his Son human”.

“My message in this Christmas is that we keep growing in humanity… Keep growing with a heart more and more human. I invite you to do all your possible best in order to show our communion and fraternity towards those who are in need of us”.

The Rector Major insist that our prayer too will be very concrete: “I would like to ask you a special commitment in prayer for the peace in the world. We are all aware of the ongoing tragedy in Syria. I ask you to pray for the 27 war zones where in this very day, Christmas vigil, fighting is going on.  I invite you as well to keep praying for our Salesian confrere Fr Tom, still missing”.

To live Christmas with our full attention directed towards others is to know and believe that we have a God who “dwells within us. When God in in our heart we are growing in humanity”.
