Among the awaited appointments there is the one of the first Superior of the Vice-Province of “Africa Congo Congo” (ACC) that was erected in the previous summer session of the General Council, as the fruit of the merging of the Provincial Delegation of the Democratic Republic of West Congo and of Congo-Brazzaville.
Besides this appointment, the Superiors of Central Africa (AFC), East Africa (AFE), Centre America (CAM), Italia Meridionale (IME), India-Chennai (INM), Thailand (THA), Germany (GER), Ireland (IRL) and Ecuador (ECU) will also be renewed. Whereas for the Provinces of India-Tiruchy and Belgium North, the Council has already done the appointments in the first days of this session.
The reports concerning the Visitations done in East Africa (AFE) by Fr. Américo Chaquisse, in Brazil-San Paolo (BSP) by Fr. Natale Vitali, in Colombia-Bogota (COB) by Fr. González; in Ecuador (ECU) by Fr. Ploch; in Japan (GIA) and Myanmar (MYM) by Fr. Klement, in India-Mumbai (INB) by Fr. Kanaga, in the Province of Sicily (ISI) by Fr. Martoglio, in Belgium North (BEN) and Ireland (IRL) by Fr. Rozmus, will also be examined.
Together with some traditional themes of these sessions, such as the semester reports of the Councillors of Sectors, there will also be some other peculiar ones, like the preparation in view of the next Ordinary Synod of Bishops, in 2018, on the theme “The Youth, Faith and Vocational Discernment”, the progress of the “Project of Salesian Places” and the organization of the next Team Visits.
The works of the Council, which officially commenced last week, will finish on Friday, January 27th, 2017, close to the feast of St. John Bosco. A few days earlier, on January 18th, there will be another appointment that has now become a tradition, and has a great charismatic value: the encounter with the General Council of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians.
