The meeting began with a greeting and introduction by Fr Martoglio. Those present - 42 in total - were then divided into small groups and were invited to fill out the form where they indicated in writing their potential candidates for the position of MEM Superior.
This was followed by the Eucharistic celebration, presided over by the Vicar of the Rector Major, in which thanks were given to God for the years of service of the current Provincial, Fr Ignacio Ocampo Uribe, who will conclude his service in January 2025. The consultation phase then ended with a fraternal lunch in which the birthdays of Fr Cirilo Valdez Vera and Fr Héctor Ugarte Sandoval were celebrated.
Later, Fr Martoglio met with the Provincial Council and the Salesian Rectors to hear their contributions on the current situation of the Province, in view of the appointment of the new Superior which will take place in January 2025.
The strengths and weaknesses of the MEM Province were discussed in an open and fraternal dialogue, , as well as the priorities of the Provincial Community, in the awareness that the Rectors and the Council will accompany the beginning of this new service of animation and governance of the person who will succeed Fr Ocampo. There was also a thank you to the current MEM Provincial for his service and his generous dedication to the Province.
The day ended with Vespers and the Salesian "good night".
