"Trust. Let us move forward with hope" was written by Salesian Fr Simão Cruz and Fr Tarcízio Morais, Superior of the Province of Portugal and Cape Verde, who is also the composer of the song. The hymn also reflects the theme chosen by the Salesians of Portugal for the pastoral year and underlines the importance of placing trust in Jesus. In fact, hope and trust are central elements of the Salesian educational and pastoral mission.
The song is performed by two voices from the "Musicentro" of the Lisbon Salesians, Madalena Martins and Nuno Siqueira, while the production is also entrusted to Fr Morais.
Addressing the themes of faith and hope, this hymn invites young people to radiate their joy and trust in God. Through its inspiring message, the theme is an invitation to live and dream, always with a high gaze and an open heart.
"We wanted to build this hymn with joy and with the ability to motivate hope, to look to the future with confidence, because this is how, as Christians, we live our faith and we want to proclaim it to young people", concluded Fr Tarcizio Morais.
The hymn "Trust. Let's move forward with hope" is now available on major digital platforms, such as Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube Music, thus allowing everyone to share and celebrate this message of hope during the Jubilee Year.
On the theme of the Pastoral Year
"Trust. Let us move forward with hope" is the pastoral theme for 2024/2025 in the environments and in the presence of the Salesians and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians in Portugal.
Stressing the importance of trust in Jesus and hope as central elements of the Salesian educational and pastoral mission, it is inspired by the teachings of Don Bosco and the biblical tradition. This theme therefore invites the community to renew its trust and to move forward with hope, even in the face of adversity.
The motto: "Trust. Let's move forward in hope" is therefore an invitation to renew trust in Jesus, to move forward with hope and to transform reality through education and love. It is an invitation to each of us to be a sign of hope in the world, inspired by the example of Don Bosco and the constant presence of Christ in our lives.
