RMG – “Shaping Tomorrow”: ten fundamental questions about Artificial Intelligence

05 July 2024

(ANS – Rome) – Artificial Intelligence (AI) is very much a trending topic nowadays: many people talk about it, although not always all with the same competence. For this reason, in preparation for the 2024 Communication Conference "SHAPING TOMORROW" which will take place from 1 to 7 August 2024 at the facilities of the Pontifical Salesian University (UPS) in Rome, the Social Communication Sector has prepared an agile tool in the shape of 10 question-answer exchanges to help understand the terms of the issue.

“It seems we are not far from the scenarios depicted in Steven Spielberg’s films, where machines perform many tasks for us. The truth is, digital technology is rapidly advancing, and there is evident innovation disruption. However, there is a clear gap caused by age, digital illiteracy, lack of internet access, resistance to change, and poverty, among many other factors” Fr Carlos Méndez, a Venezuelan Salesian and expert on the subject, observes.

“As communicators, we have a responsibility to educate and inform about the latest developments, discoveries, and advancements in the vast world of communication and technology” he adds on.

Certain questions, therefore, cannot remain unanswered: What is AI? How does it work? Is it useful? What are the ethical challenges of using AI?

This and much more can be answered by downloading and consulting the specially prepared text available in three languages - Italian, English and Spanish - at the bottom of the page.

We invite you to participate in the communication conference that will be held from 1 to 7 August 2024 in Rome” is the exhortation that comes from the Social Communication Sector.

In view of the Conference, the Facebook page and Instagram profile of “Shaping Tomorrow” are already active.
