At the beginning of each working day, participants attended two presentations on two topics that are changing the world: the way you learn and the way you do things. On the first side, for example, Artificial Intelligence was discussed, with a talk entitled ‘How to improve learning with AI’ given by University of Navarra professors Francesc Pujol and Alejandro N. García.
"In a world reconfigured by AI, 70% of jobs will undergo a profound transformation in 5 years. It will be a very strong potential to improve the learning process of students or to ruin it” they noted. The two professors of the University of Navarra proposed to the teachers participating in the conference the challenge of integrating AI for the benefit of the learning process, showing how to use it on the basis of the "golden rule", which consists of using AI to improve what is already known.
The second day began with the intervention of Fernando Valera, founder of the "Materialigth" Company and an expert in functional printing, who showed the possibilities of this branch of the graphic arts, presenting it as a disruptive proposal, as a market niche for the future. "It is possible to direct the business of traditional printing towards the world of functional printing. But for this reason it is essential to extend training in Graphic Arts to this new market niche," he said.
The "INFINITE" Project was presented on this occasion, of which the Salesian Institute of Pamplona is a partner, together with the Functional Press Cluster, the Government of Navarre and a large group of entities from various countries. This project is part of the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) and is funded by the European Union.
The aim of the project is to promote and enhance functional printing in the region. To this end, among other activities, the Salesians in Pamplona intend to create a specialisation course in functional printing, and each of the partners will instead develop formation on the subject in their respective countries.
In this first dissemination action of the project, the partners of Navarra carried out two activities: presentation of INFINITE to the Salesian schools of graphic arts in Spain; and interviews with the department directors of these schools, to obtain an analysis of the needs to be considered for the implementation of this innovative formation event.
Miren Garate, Director of the Department of Graphic Arts of the Salesians of Pamplona, presented the different funding channels that her department has sought in recent years, the projects carried out and the alliances created.
And all participants also had the opportunity to visit the DS SMITH PACKAGING BERTAKO Company.
This second conference served the exchange of best working practices between Salesian schools and the acquisition of new skills by the participating teachers. As Fr Ángel Miranda, Rector of the Salesians in Pamplona, said at the opening of the conference: "These days are not just about getting to know another school and sharing experiences. They are days to share life, to walk together and build projects that allow us to dream."
