Dominican Republic - The Rector Major meets the Salesians of the Antilles

(ANS - Santo Domingo) - Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, the Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco, held a meeting yesterday, Friday 9 February, in the parish of Saint John Bosco in Santo Domingo, with the Salesian Confreres, as part of his visit to the Province of the Antilles (ANT).

During the dialogue, they shared experiences of his appointment as Cardinal and discussed strategies to strengthen the educational and pastoral work in the Province of the Antilles. At the end of the meeting, in the presence of the Rector Major, Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime; the Provincial, Fr José Pastor Ramírez, and the President of the Business Committee of Latin America, Fr Roberto Zamora, signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Business Committee of Latin America and the Salesians of Don Bosco. This agreement seeks to leverage resources and efforts to improve the quality of education offered by the Salesian Congregation in the area.

At midday, the Eucharist was celebrated, presided over by Cardinal Fernández Artime, marking a moment of spirituality and communion for the Salesian brothers and the community present. The Rector Major expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and the commitment shown by the Province of the Antilles, stressing the importance of collaboration and working together to continue to promote the Salesian mission.

Today, Saturday 10 February, Cardinal Fernández Artime is scheduled to take part in the Youth Environmental Forum to be held in Ecobosco, Villa Altagracia, and will then preside at the Eucharist with the Salesian Family in the parish of St. John Bosco in Santo Domingo.
