Montenegro – 20th anniversary of the “Don Bosko” school

(ANS – Podgorica) – On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the “Don Bosko” school, a festive celebration was organised on Wednesday, 31 January, at the premises of the Don Bosco Centre in Podgorica. Don Bosco school is a private educational institution founded by the Salesians in Podgorica, which carries out educational work through the organisation of courses.

The main activity is the organisation of foreign language courses (English, German, Italian and Spanish), a basic computer course and the basics of graphic design. Since 2008, the school has been conducting its work in accordance with the license it received from the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports. All the language courses are conducted according to a program that is aligned with the European standard in the field of teaching foreign languages, and the program for the computer course follows the ECDL standard for computers in Europe.

His Grace Archbishop Rok Donlesaj, Archbishop of Bar and Administrator of the Diocese of Kotor, priests, sisters, ambassadors and consuls of the embassies of Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Croatia were present at the solemn celebration. Fr Lojze Dobravec, SDB, who was there on behalf of the Slovenian Salesian Province of St Cyril and Methodius Ljubljana, and former school principals Fr Andrej Baligac, SDB, Fr Viktor Ganc, SDB, and Fr Izidor Lukić, SDB, were also present. “We heartily awarded certificates of appreciation and medals to them, as well as to the donors and friends of the Don Bosco Centre, as a sign of gratitude for supporting our school and contributing to its reputation and international character” the Salesians in Podgorica said.

The quality of the Salesian courses is most praised by its students who achieve excellent results on international tests. The knowledge they have gained helps them to be successful at school and at work, and with what they have learned at our school they successfully work, study and live abroad.

The goal of “Don Bosko” school is the implementation of social-pedagogical projects as a contribution to overcoming social difficulties through the activities of successful acquisition of knowledge and thus inclusion in the world of work and profession.

“3,101 students have completed our courses over 20 years. We are grateful to the students who put their trust in us, as well as to those who contributed to the school’s continued existence, to the previous principals, lecturers who give special value to the school, and also to friends who helped equip and modernize the school's equipment,” said the current school principal, Mr. Marjan Camaj, a Salesian Collaborator.
