The projects aim to offer the neediest youth from the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) and volunteers from "WYD DON BOSCO 23" - the Salesian Youth Movement organization in charge of convening and engaging young people from various Salesian environments around the world in WYD Lisbon 2023 - the opportunity to participate in this immense youth event together with Pope Francis.
The first project aims to support 50 young people linked to the Salesian Youth Movement of Portugal, who are in situations of social vulnerability so that they can participate, as pilgrims, in WYD, sharing this moment with young people from all over the world, in a unique experience of faith, fraternity and personal encounter with Jesus Christ. The amount raised will support all expenses of the 50 participants throughout the week of World Youth Day, with an all-inclusive kit worth 255 euros per participant.
The second project aims to help "WYD DON BOSCO 23" register its volunteers as pilgrims to World Youth Day in Lisbon. The amount supported by "WYD DON BOSCO 23" for each volunteer is 65 euros, for a total of 26,000 euros considering the 400 volunteers it has calculated will be needed.
WYD DON BOSCO 23 is preparing the arrival and logistics to welcome the 7,000 young people expected from Salesian circles around the world. The 400 or so volunteers are nothing more than teens and young people themselves who will put their time and talents at the disposal of the other pilgrims participating in WYD. Therefore, as a gesture of recognition for the work done and the support given to the organization, WYD DON BOSCO 23 intends to independently register its volunteers as pilgrims to WYD Lisbon 2023, supporting part of the contribution required from registered pilgrims.
With these projects, "Missão Don Bosco" is committed to offering young people the opportunity to participate in WYD Lisbon 2023 so that they can have an experience of the universal Church, growth in faith, friendship, and service.
