In his talk, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime pointed out that in his travels to the countries of the world he met young people of different culture and skin colour, but they all had the same dreams and the same joy.
Before noon the Rector Major went to the birthplace of Blessed Maria Romero which has now been turned into a museum and a centre of pilgrimage. Salesians and FMA took part in the Eucharistic celebration. The Rector Major, commenting on the spirituality of Sister Romero, said that "generosity and self-giving are transformed into fruits of life. A word, a smile, a hug can touch the life of a boy or girl. The Lord laid his hands on them and healed them. We have this power to heal. "
At noon he met with the Salesians of Nicaragua and gave them an optimistic view of the congregation, without ignoring its shadows. He invited them to grow in their fidelity to the Salesian vocation. He expressed satisfaction at the vitality of the Province of Central America.
In the evening he met with the groups of the Salesian Family in the "Casa Pellas" in the city centre. Fr Á.F. Artime gave a strong message about service of the poorest young people as a vital centre of his apostolic life. Later there was supper with music, greetings and photographs to be preserved for history.
In this way he took his leave of the country to continue his visit. Today, 1 September, he arrives in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
