26 July 2016

(ANS - Cairo) - On 19 July, ten young people from the Salesian houses in the Central District of Italy (ICC) left with three Salesians for a missionary experience in the two Salesian houses in Cairo, Rod El Farag and Zeitun. It will be a month of solidarity, sharing and availability for service in the various activities of the Salesian works.

This Missionary Project involves the Salesian District of Central Italy (ICC) and the Salesian Province of the Middle East (MOR). It comes in response to the Rector Major’s request to make the Middle East a "missionary front". Ten young people from Salesian Houses and three Salesians departed for Cairo on 19 July.

They will lend their services for a month in two Salesian houses. Rod El Farag is a technical school for personal and professional growth of young Egyptians. Zeitun is a small oratory in a densely populated slum in the northeast area of the city.

Young people will join the summer activities of the Salesians, the Italian school for young people and the camping organized by the oratory. They will try first of all to bring their own willingness to serve in the knowledge that they will receive a lot more than they give.
