The young people from all over the world are looking forward to a very intense and interesting time. They will participate in Masses and community celebrations. They will hear dozens of catechetical inputs given by bishops from around the world. There will also be an opportunity to receive the sacrament of penance. There will be adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the areas where confessions are heard. The pilgrims will also have the opportunity to participate in vocational forums, which will also feature the Salesian Family. There will be many concerts and other cultural attractions.
In addition, the Salesian Youth will participate in a meeting of SYM 2016 which will be held on 27 July at the EXPO Fair in Krakow. More than five thousand young people of the SYM are looking forward to this meeting. The Rector Major of the Salesians, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, and the Mother General of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, Sr. Yvonne Reungoat, will also be present at SYM 2016.
The World Youth Day is a great opportunity for young people to experience the power of faith in God. The young people themselves are not afraid to speak openly about their expectations for WYD. Some wish to deepen their relationship with Jesus, others hope for an experience of the universality and diversity of the Church in the world. Much depends on the attitude of each one. Seeing the young people who arrive in Krakow, it's very clear that they are coming here with open hearts and open minds. They want to live this time in the best way possible. Despite the fear for their lives, they come here to celebrate their faith in the capital of Divine Mercy!
